you & i

you came from fire
i came from ice
neither of us are angels
nor know of paradise

i keep the water
you keep the bread
an addition to a collection
could never make us dead

i'll taste the honey
you'll taste the fruit
it's fun to make up dialogue
when the commercials are on mute

you set'em up
i'll knock'em down
today we take the world
and burn it to the ground

There's something ticking in the overhead and inside of your brain

I wrote this down while waiting for my plane in the Minneapolis airport last January. I was flying alone on my way from Saskatchewan to Texas. Not knowing a single person within two thousand miles of your location and being stuck where you are is a weird and lonely feeling. Very weird indeed...

Departed

I had a conversation with a man on an airplane
as we were falling to our deaths.
He said to me,
"This is where the dream ends
and you wake up from the ring of the alarm."
I said to him,
"It's funny how I dream about dying,
all the while I'm still alive... I think."
He said,
"Don't worry about it, son.
It'll all be over soon."
I said,
"Alright."

I think I heard a shot...

It must have just been some neighborhood kids. Darn teenagers.

I've seen it all. I was here first...

Today, I think I'll just post the lyrics of some songs that are stuck in my head.

Enjoy.

Very Ape by Nirvana

I am buried up to my neck in
Contradictionary flies
I take pride as the king of illiterature
I'm very ape and very nice

If you ever need anything please don't
Hesitate to ask someone else first
I'm too busy acting like I'm not naive
I've seen it all I was here first

Out of the ground
Into the sky
Out of the sky
Into the dirt

Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle by Nirvana

It's so relieving
To know that you're leaving
As soon as you get paid
It's so relaxing
To hear that you're asking
Whenever you get your way
It's so soothing
To know that you'll sue me
This is starting to sound the same

I miss the comfort in being sad

In her false withness
Hope you're still with us
To see if they float or drown
Our favorite patient
A display of patience
Disease-covered Puget Sound
She'll come back as fire
And burn all the liars
Leave a blanket of ash on the ground

I miss the comfort in being sad

Omissions of the Omen by Matthew Good Band

Wait for me if I don't show up
Take from me this hypocrite's cup
And somewhere around the world
Someone would love to have my first world problems
Kill the moon, turn out the sun
Lock your door and load your gun
Free at last, yeah the time has come
To choose

Man makes God so God can make man
Man makes the devil so that he can understand
Why it is that everyday
Everything always turns out this way
You and me we were never here
You and me we were not that clear
You and me we died a long, long time ago

Don't think just come along
I do believe that it won't be long
And everything's open all night and all day anyway

Build me a ship of wood and steel
Bring me a net and a fishing reel
Sail me to the place where I can find my brother
Sleeping sound
Wait for me if I don't show up
Take from me this hypocrite's cup
And kill the moon, turn out the sun
Omissions of the omen

Flying, slowly
I'm flying
I'm flying
I'm flying
I'm flying through the wind

We Suck Young Blood by Radiohead

are you hungry?
are you sick?
are you begging for a break?

are you sweet?
are you fresh?
are you strung up by the wrists?

we want the young blood

are you fracturing?
are you torn at the seams?
would you do anything?
flea-bitten? motheaten?

we suck young blood
we suck young blood

won't let the creeping ivy
won't let the nervous bury me
our veins are thin
our rivers poisoned

we want the sweet meats
we want the young blood

I miss New Wave and watching you walk away...

Blackout

Here I sit
Waiting for tomorrow
And with it will come what is due
With it will come a change

A hot tub filled with drunk models
Living in the moment

People come and people go
People hide and people show
I'm drowning in milk like an Oreo
Mr. Good is blaring on the stereo

Fade out the lights
Fade out the sound
We are going to black out
Lose your breath
It's time for us to leave

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Some day we will wake up
And be blind no longer
Call me crazy, but I think we're lost
Being lost and crazy is starting to settle in

So here I sit
Waiting for tomorrow
I hope I get a head start

They called me crazy when I said I was already dead

This is a picture my buddy Brian took at a veteran cemetery in Washington D.C.
Look closely at the white tombstone in the front.

This is the face that can make a thousand teenage girls blush and faint out of pure arousal. Parents, lock up your daughters...

12:48 a.m.

Clouds and Crows

At midnight I take walks in the park
I kind of feel brave walking in the dark
I'm ready for the wreckening
It's better to look more threatening
There's a shady figure across the street
A force of static if we should meet
I feel the adrenaline pumping
I feel my heart thumping
Going toward the warm glow of home
Safe from the allies where shadows roam

Look to the above
To the clouds and the crows
When this will stop
Nobody knows
A mean wind is a blowin'
As cold as it may seem
A silhouette in slow-motion
This is all but a dream...

ladada

Desperation

I once killed a man
A spur-of-the-moment kinda thing
Shot'em in the heart
He said to me
"Son, the world is soon to end.
And I can see it in your eyes
that it'll come as a big surprise."

This didn't boad well with me
So I figured I should shut him up
I guess some people prefer illusion to despair
And from what I've tasted of this life
I think we have a common preference

Here flow the rivers of red and black
From this point on there is no turning back

We are like pendulums, our arms swinging at our sides...

Man, Sarah Harmer is sooo good. She has an amazing voice. If none of you have ever heard her stuff, get your ass in gear and listen to "Pendulums", "Uniform Grey", "Almost", and her collaboration with the Tragically Hip entitled "Silver Road". When I hear her voice... oh man. Makes me feel funny. Kinda like how we used to climb the rope in gym class. But anyways...

Little Monster

There's my monster
Look at it go
Likes to make thunder
Hidden deep in the snow
It's a silly little thing
Likes to plot its attack
A terrorist for the common man
Weapon in a fanny-pack
Do you see my little monster?
It's pretty outrageous
Likes too feed on the weak
It's getting to be contagious
You don't like my monster
But that's okay
There's an odd flu goin' 'round
You'll catch on someday
